INITIAL CONSULTATION

How can I help you with your project? |

This will be our first meeting -- I will meet you in your space to get a feel for your home or business and we will discuss all your goals, dreams, and pain points for the space. We will discuss what types of services you would like to utilize, as well as your timeline and budget. After the consultation, I will draw up a design proposal for costs associated with the services required to complete your project.

The initial consultation may last up to 2 hours, and is a time to discuss the project, collect measurements and form a plan of action.

FLOOR PLANS + SPACE PLANNING

Creating floor plans for New Construction, Additions, and Remodels for both residential and commercial spaces is my jam! Whether you're looking at a project large or small, having the expertise of an Interior Designer is SO valuable to make sure you are maximizing every inch of your space.

FULL-SERVICE DESIGN + PRODUCT SOURCING

Have a space that needs a full overhaul? Maybe moving into a new home or your business is new or looking to create a fresh identity? With trade access to many furniture and accessory distributors, I can pull together a complete package for your room or space and oversee all orders and installation for a turnkey experience. This package is ideal for the busy professional or homeowner who does not want to be product sourcing, shopping, and making millions of decisions.

COLOR CONSULTATIONS

Color can be so impactful, yet so challenging. Often, when starting a remodel project or building from scratch, you will need to paint many different rooms. I can help source the right paint colors for all your spaces to flow together. We can look at just one room or a full house.

VIRTUAL DESIGN PLANS

You send me your room measurements, photos, and problem areas/wish list. I will pull together a color palette and furniture + finish selections. This may also include suggestions for DIY projects for you to complete to improve/upgrade the space. All items will be sourced online, with links and purchase information provided. You will receive a visual mood board, with a document containing sources. This allows you to finish the project as time and budget allow. Virtual design plans will include one round of edits after the final mood board is presented.

CABINET + TILE DESIGN

If you're looking for a unique update to your spaces, I can help you create a custom look. There are so many ways to play with design to create a custom look fit for your home and your style, and I have many years of experience in these areas.

PRICELIST

Each project really varies based on the intended amount of guidance, and the desired result. After the initial consultation and discussions about the project scope and budget, a design agreement will be presented to each client before work proceeds. A down payment on design work is required for work to begin.

Hi! My name is Erika Kelly and I live here in Minot, ND with my husband, Jordan, and our three children Kipton, Brooks, and Stella. I’m a Minot native and have lived here most of my life, aside from the years I spent earning my degree at North Dakota State University in Fargo. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and a minor in Business Administration.

Since returning to Minot after college, I’ve worked in several roles within the home interiors industry, gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of products—from cabinetry and countertops to tile, plumbing fixtures, and flooring. These experiences have shaped my approach and deepened my understanding of the many elements that go into great design.

I started 917 Interiors to meet a growing need I’ve seen in our community for thoughtful, approachable, and professional interior design services. Whether you’re building from the ground up, remodeling an existing space, or just need help pulling together the final details, I’m here to help you create something beautiful and functional that reflects your style and needs. I also love working on commercial spaces like offices, retail environments, restaurants and corporate settings. There’s something powerful about walking into a well-designed, well-branded space that enhances the experience for both employees and customers, and I want to bring more of that to Minot and the surrounding area.

Tween Bathroom style ✨

I love adding pops of {color} to kids’ spaces! This bathroom design had to pull double duty — it's the everyday space for two growing girls and also the main bathroom for the home.
To keep things cohesive, we stuck with neutral tones for the foundational elements, then brought in bold color and playful patterns through easy-to-swap details like the artwork, shower curtain, and linens. Fun and functional!

As always, I love giving my clients multiple options so we can refine, mix & match, and come up with the perfect solution.

That navy backplash though...🤩🤩🤩

🌟🌟🌟 Digging into the archives for a project I helped design last spring that was completed last fall! I was brought in on this project to help improve layout and storage in this long, narrow kitchen. The homeowners knew a general direction for layout and color palette but needed just a little guidance pulling everything together. After surveying the existing space, I drew up multiple options, which we ultimately narrrowed down to one final plan. The clients were supplied with working drawings that they used to get quotes for materials and provide to their contractor. I was available for questions along the way, but the homeowner took the reins after the design phase was completed.

◽️ For color palette in the space, we opted for a base of white cabinets, with warm oak to pull in existing doors/millwork, which was also grounded by new flooring. The pop of NAVY in the backsplash really seals the deal for me! I love a neutral space, but color has my heart 💙. Also -- peep ALLLLLL those drawers. My absolute favorite storage option for base cabinets!

◽️ Keep scrolling through for the BEFORE photos -- you can see how the layout has been MUCH improved, with so many additional cabinets -- storage is NOT an issue anymore. Function + Beauty...it's a win-win! 🙌🏼

Designer “Day in the Life”:

Thursdays are typically my days to check in on jobsites, tie up loose ends, schedule client meetings. This week I was out at Galusha Ranch checking on two of my new-construction client homes (built by Ready Builders 😍). One of these homes is SO close to client move-in, and the other is not as far along, but the exterior finishes are nearing substantial completion. I’ve been working on these homes for many, many months and it is SO rewarding to see the beautiful finishes and construction details come together. ✨

Want to know one of my favorite ways to add personality on a commercial space?? A custom {mix} of seating 🪑✨

When designing this indoor golf training facility for kids, I wanted to infuse {FUN} into the space! We had a few different seating areas to consider and could have used matching seating throughout, but how boring would that be?!

I took the opportunity to pull colors from the bold carpet, and I think the overall look is pretty cool! 💚🩵🖤

🚶🏼‍♀️🏡 Walk-through Wednesday! Today I met Ready Builders on-site with to do a walk-through with our clients who will soon get to live in this gorgeous home! 🪚 Framing is mostly complete, and it is {SO} helpful to walk through and double check 🚪door placement, 🪟window sizing (and views!), as well as identifying specialty 🛁plumbing & 💡electrical needs. This custom home has been meticulously planned for optimal functionality, but there is truly nothing like walking into the space and “feeling”. 🤍 We made some {tiny} changes like moving a wall 6” and changing door swings, but these little details are going to go a long way in the functionality of the home. 🙌🏼 Another example of “why hire an Interior Designer” 😉

Also — this is another home in the Galusha Ranch area and the views and location are just so dang cool! ✨

✨I helped a client recently with a little lighting refresh in the main stairway of her home. This stairway is a focal point of the home and the previous fixture just wasn’t doing the space justice! We considered a few options, and I think this arched mobile fixture just “sings” in here! The lighting really pulls together the whole vibe in this cozy, eclectic space and lets the artwork around it shine! ✨

🛋️ 917 Interiors has been fortunate to have a some fun clients call on me when their space needs a refresh - I’ve gotten to work on this home a few times and it’s always a pleasure! This couple are avid collectors of iconic mid century modern furniture and accessories (peep that Eames Lounge chair!)

A need for a new sofa called for a slight shift in the needs of the space. Client comfort was key when selecting the sofa, but we made sure to select a fabric that would fit the vibe of the home. A new rug was selected to brighten the space and give new personality. This week, we finalized shelf and decor styling to tie everything together. ✨

This project is a perfect example of a refresh of the space without changing too much! Here are some things to consider when “refreshing” your space:

When working with remodel clients, I always begin with a focus on cabinetry and functionality to make the most of each space. Once we finalize some of the more "permanent" items, it's time to start thinking about finishes -- cabinet finishes, countertops, flooring, paint. It is always a bonus to pull together some of the "fun" pieces too -- lighting, furniture, hardware...it's all a part of the larger picture!
